EXTRACTIONS: "Seven Magic Mountains"

Mini-mountains assembled by fine artist Ugo Rondinone somewhere in the Las Vegas outskirts supplies the perfect supplementary color story to the desert setting. We're commonly subject to associating the desert with suffering and dull/light neutral hues, but here, natural colors are saturated and chroma'd in their highest value and made tangible. By using each color of the desert in their highest intensities, Ugo brings optimism to a hopeless and pessimistic contextual sarea. As a collaboration between the Art Production Fund in New York and the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, there is only hope for more color studies in inhibited spaces. No need to rush to the western desert as the installation will be available for 2 years, and plus, it will be interesting to see how the colors age in the weather.
