After taking a week off to focus on finals exams and finishing my semester strong, I was temporarily oblivious to society until I remembered how important the past week is to music this year. Although this year has been a tough one for most of us, it has been a great one for music. Thus using that as a focus to navigate towards more positive and lightweight topics, this week is all about appreciation and positivity. The first two palettes of the weeks reflected on painful events of their previous weeks, but in light of the new year approaching, it’s important to reflect on strictly positives and burning away negatives. The beauty in this specific moment curls in all the possibilities for some of the greatest visual art and music for millennials. Pharrell passively mentioned this in his interview with Hot 97 over the weekend; and when we look at history a shambled society births the greatest and most honest work in all creative and business industries. I'm interested in how tech will aid and create space for people of color and women. We're leading this week back with a playful palette of Fiery Red for the burning passion and need for social activism, Skydiver Blue returns to remind you to stay calm and make sure you practice your self care methods of choice to sustain sanity, Jelly Bean creates that balance of fun and the gradual shift towards societal equality, and Cyber Yellow for the pervasive nature of brown people and people of color to continue their strides in the names of those before and after them.
